What is Unimatrix?

A quick overview of what Unimatrix does and why it exists.

Unimatrix is a managed Model Context Protocol (MCP) memory server. It gives every AI client you use — Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, custom agents, or the Unimatrix web dashboard — access to the same durable, hierarchical memory layer.

Instead of context disappearing every time you start a new chat or switch models, Unimatrix stores memories explicitly, organized into Palaces → Locations → Memories, so long-running projects keep their context across sessions, devices, and even different LLM providers.

Memories are end-to-end encrypted client-side before they are ever sent to the server, so Unimatrix itself cannot read the contents of what you store.

You can connect to Unimatrix over MCP (the primary path for AI clients) or the REST API, and manage everything from the web dashboard.
